A DAY IN THE LIFE OF... SIMON BOARDMAN

Hi Simon. Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself.

Ive been working in the exciting world of financial services since 1982. Starting from humble beginnings as ‘The Man From The Pru’ moving to Abbey National in 1993, and then Atkinson Smith now Ethos Financial Solutions in 2004.

Tell us about your role at Ethos.

My job really is working with new clients and advising on them on their employee benefits, at the same time juggling queries with existing clients and their demands. There is never a dull moment and no day is the same.

What does your typical day include?

There are different types of days.

I do a lot of pension surgeries with existing corporate clients and their staff providing advice and guidance to the company and to the staff. We recommend a review at least once a year, but very few people do this.

What do you enjoy most about working at Ethos?

The staff and the variety of work we get involved in.

If you weren’t a Financial Adviser/Employee Benefit Consultant, what would you want to be?

I ride motorbikes and enjoy fixing and maintaining older non-running bikes and mopeds. I guess its because most of the day I’m just pushing a pen, so getting my hands dirty is quite a good escape as a bit of a hobby. So a simple answer to the question would be some sort of mechanical engineer.

Finally, what's your favourite chocolate bar?

Snickers
